Visiting Bangkok – Things To Beware

Things To Beware While Visiting Bangkok

Thailand provides a terrific traveling experience. It is especially noticeable it in the warm smiles of the locals and the welcoming shorelines with some of the best beaches in the world. Major Thailand cities, including the capital – Bangkok, are a joy to visit. But despite this fact, there is always a possibility to face up to the things that can make your traveling experience not so enjoyable. To avoid it find out the Things to Beware while Visiting Bangkok. Having a prior knowledge of certain facts, details, and intricacies can be extremely conducive to you making the most out of your trip to the capital of Thailand.

  • Avoid using tuk-tuks

Bangkok is teeming with tuk-tuks and it is something that is hard to avoid for travelers. Especially, because it looks like a cool and funny option to move around the city. Of course, you can try it, but be aware that tuk-tuk drivers usually overcharge tourists. So remember that and always discuss the price before the trip started.

  • Taking taxis, always make sure that the meter is on

Despite what the driver may try to tell you, always insist that the meter is turned on before taking a ride. Better safe than sorry. Just like with tuk-tuks, some of the drivers may try to con you into spending more money than the trip is really worth. When you cannot come to an agreement with one taxi, simply move on to the next one. Using taxis overall is a great and inexpensive way to get around Bangkok, just do not let yourself be ‘taken for a ride’ or made feel tricked by the locals.

  • There are plenty of fraudsters and con artists

The solution here – simply use sound judgment. Deal with it as if you were in your own country – how would you respond to someone approaching you with some made up story meant to extract money from you? It is really no different in Thailand. Although Thailand in general and Bangkok in particular are typically safe, there are always those who will try to take advantage of the fact that you are a visitor in a foreign country. So consider yourself warned.

  • Traffic jams are an integral part of Bangkok experience

Do not get overly upset if you get stuck in one – they occur pretty much daily. Bangkok traffic is notoriously bad and the roads are packed during rush hour. Just chalk it up to the overall experience – after all it is another way to explore the city.

  • There is no need for a face mask

Although the pollution is a concern in Thai capital, it is safe to walk without the face mask in Bangkok. And the air is really not that bad.

  • Using public transport, always keep your seat belt fastened

Although speeding on the roads is not a huge concern in Thailand and most motorists actually abide by the road rules, some of the public transport drivers tend to drive really fast. That’s why never forget to fasten the seat belt, and if you happen to be driving a rental car, always yield to the “speedsters”. When crossing streets as a pedestrian, be cautious and always be on the lookout for crazy drivers.

But despite all these things you should beware, Bangkok has so much to offer – just plan well your trip,  remember about simple security measures and enjoy your visiting Bangkok!
